Questions, answered
Everything customers ask before their first jar.
It's beef tallow — is it going to feel greasy?
No, and it's the thing reviewers mention most often unprompted. The tallow is whipped until it's light and airy, so warmed for a few seconds between your fingers it melts and sinks straight in rather than forming a film. You can get dressed straight after.
Why is the balm yellow and so thick?
That's the natural colour and texture of grass-fed tallow. A pale, translucent balm would mean a far more diluted base. Take a pea-sized amount, warm it between your fingers, and it turns silky immediately.
Does it smell of beef?
No. The scent is a light citrus that settles within minutes. Reviewers describe it as pleasant and never overpowering. A lavender version is also available.
Will it suit my skin?
It's suitable for all skin types. If you're prone to clogged pores, patch-test on a small area of your face first — some people prefer it on the body, hands and dry patches. As with any new product, try a small area before your first full application.
The jar looks small. How long will it last?
Far longer than you'd expect. A pea-sized amount covers face and neck. Used morning and night, a 113g jar lasts months — reviewers regularly mention the tub still being nearly full after a month.
How do I use it?
Scoop a pea-sized amount, warm it between your fingers until it turns silky, then massage into clean, slightly damp skin. Face, hands, elbows, knees — anywhere that feels tight. Morning and night.
My jar arrived soft. Is that normal?
Yes. Real tallow softens in the heat, especially in summer. Pop the jar in the fridge for an hour and it firms right back up, with nothing lost.
How should I store it?
At room temperature, away from direct sunlight and heat sources. Close the lid firmly after each use and scoop with clean, dry fingers.
Is it suitable for vegetarians or vegans?
No. Tallow is a beef-derived fat and manuka honey is a bee product. That's precisely what makes its lipid profile so close to human skin's own.
What if it doesn't work for me?
You have 60 days to try it. If it isn't right for you, email us and we'll refund you in full — even if the jar has been opened. There's no risk in giving it a go.
